「 invaded it on 1:22 AM 」
so my short trip to KL was abit overhyped. i went there, with my mom and Sara (my cousin) to meet up with Malaysian relatives that I hadnt heard at all in my entire life. The family tree goes like this:
My mom has a cousin, who is my aunt. This aunt of mine has 3 sisters and 1 brother living in M'sia. Her brother's daughter, her niece, is getting married. So since my mom and my aunt are cousins, that technically makes my aunt's niece and me cousins.
Get it?
Nevermind.
anyway, a 5 hours coach ride to the capital and upon arriving, I see a real life group of protestors going around shouting stuff and holding up huge slogans. not sure what was the riot about, but I shall check some sources. After hanging around at KLCC, I went over to my cousin's house. Huge gathering with tons of food and lots of unfamiliar faces.
So as I said hi to the bride-to-be, I realized it was going to be quite the bore. She responded back - in Cantonese. And not just her, everyone around the house.
Language barrier. ARGH! So every Malaysian cousin of mine (i say roughly around 10 after all the introductions) was communicating in Canton. If not for Sara, I would have died of boredom. The entire evening was spent just talking to her and waiting for my mom to finish her conversations with her 'long-lost' cousins.
The wedding was the next day but prior to that, we got early to attend the tea ceremony. A traditional chinese type where the groom comes, only to find that the door to the house is locked and there, he has to negotiate prices for the bride and play some games to entertain the entire family.
After that, one of the aunties brought us to try SUPERB fried fish soup bee hoon. It's the dish where the soup has been concocted with milk, tomato and ginger. Anyway, it was superb. Finished to the last drop and would have ordered another one...
..if not for some shopping.
Alas, Mid Valley megamall (in my mind, i thought it was a run-down area) was a regular Isetan so I was limited to buying just 2 shirts at Factory Outlet. The rest of the mall was littered with Zara, Vincci, G2000, Levis, B.U.M, Esprit and Burberry. Shopping indeed ><
the wedding came later in the evening. Admittedly, it was quite horrible. Firstly, the food came late and it was either over-cooked or under-cooked. Secondly, the service was horrible. This waiter came to us with shark fin's soup and then he left without scooping into lil bowls for us. The same waiter kept on forgetting to change plates whenever we reminded him to do so. Another waiter serving the table next to us spilled wine onto a girl's dress. What's more, she was wearing white. If these part-timers want to earn the cash, please do so in a way that it doesnt tarnish the hotel's image. Gosh, bloody bad PR service.
Finally, the MC was a total bore. In short, he was shyte. He kept on speaking in a uninterested monotone and repeated the same things umpteen times. Enough to put even a cow to sleep. I couldnt believe he was getting paid to do that. The groom must have felt damn shit that an MC like that was conducting his wedding. Thus, me and Sara crept away to Coffee Bean to avoid more suffering.
Thankfully, we left quite early in the morning to reach home early. KL hadn't change much. It will be for some time before I venture there. again.
